The AAC 200mm² All Aluminum Conductor, designed in accordance with IEC 61089, is a bare overhead conductor made of concentric lay-stranded EC-grade (99.7% minimum purity) aluminum wires. Due to its high electrical conductivity, lightweight, and excellent corrosion resistance, this conductor is widely used in low, medium, and high-voltage overhead power lines, particularly in urban and coastal regions.
Application
AAC 200mm² is ideal for:
Urban power distribution where short spans and high conductivity are required
Coastal areas where corrosion resistance is critical
Overhead transmission and distribution lines for low to high voltage applications
Service connections using aluminum conductors to ensure compatibility and reduce galvanic corrosion
While aluminum-to-copper transitions are possible, the use of aluminum conductors for both service drops and feeder lines is generally preferred to simplify installation and prevent material incompatibility.
Standards
IEC 61089 – Round wire concentric lay overhead electrical stranded conductors
Construction
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Conductor Material | Electrolytic grade aluminum (EC grade), minimum 99.7% purity |
| Stranding Type | Concentric lay stranded |
| Structure | One or more layers of hard-drawn 1350-H19 aluminum wires helically wound around a central wire |
AAC conductors are available in various strand configurations depending on the size and mechanical requirements, with the outer layer typically right-hand lay and alternate layers reversed to maintain stability.
