The 600V Triplex URD (Underground Residential Distribution) cable is designed for underground secondary distribution. It consists of three insulated conductors twisted together, typically two phase conductors and one neutral conductor. This cable is suitable for direct burial in the earth or installation in ducts in both wet or dry locations, with a maximum operating temperature of C.
Key Specifications & Construction
- Voltage: 600V.
- Conductor: Both phase and neutral conductors are made from a Class B compressed concentric lay stranded aluminum alloy (1350-H19 or AA-8000 series).
- Insulation: The conductors are insulated with black thermoset XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene). The neutral conductor is distinguished by a yellow stripe or a full yellow jacket.
- Configuration: Three insulated conductors (two phase and one neutral) are twisted together.
- Standards: The cable complies with ICEA S-105-692 and UL 854 (as USE-2) and is RUS accepted.
- Features: The cable is resistant to heat, ozone, oil, and chemicals. It is also tear and abrasion-resistant, and suitable for direct burial.
