Copper Conductor Duplex Service Drop Cable 600V

The Copper Conductor Duplex Service Drop Cable 600V is a versatile and reliable electrical cable designed for service connections between utility lines and residential or commercial buildings. It features two insulated copper conductors, typically one for hot and one for neutral, housed within a protective outer jacket. Rated for 600 volts, this cable is suitable for overhead or underground service drops, providing safe and efficient power delivery. Its durable insulation and construction ensure resistance to environmental factors such as moisture, UV exposure, and mechanical stresses, making it ideal for outdoor applications and long-term service. This cable is commonly used for connecting the utility power source to the building's electrical system, ensuring a secure and compliant connection.

Copper Duplex Service Drop Cable Application

Used to supply power, usually from a pole-mounted transformer, to the user's service head where connection to the service entrance cable is made. Also suitable for installations for street lighting, security lights, and temporary service for construction. To be used at voltages of 600 volts phase-to-phase or less and at conductor temperatures not to exceed 75 ºC for polyethylene insulated conductors and 90 ºC for cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) insulated conductors.

Copper Duplex Service Drop Cable Specifications

Meets or exceeds the following ASTM specifications:
B-1 Hard-Drawn Copper Wire.
B-3 Soft or Annealed Copper Wire.
B-8 Concentric-Lay-Stranded Copper Conductors, Hard, Medium-Hard, or Soft.
Meets or exceeds all applicable requirements of ANSI/ICEA S-76-474 for polyethylene and cross-linked polyethylene insulated conductors.

Copper Duplex Overhead Service Drop Cable Wire Construction

Conductors are concentrically stranded compressed soft copper insulated with either cross-linked polyethylene, or conventional polyethylene.
Neutral messengers are either solid or concentrically stranded bare hard-drawn copper.

Notes:
Code words for XLP insulated products are formed by adding ''XLP'' to the conventional polyethylene code words above (e.g.-Theta/XLP).
Ampacity figures for black insulation only. Based on conductor temperature of 75 ºC for polyethylene insulated conductors, 90 ºC for XLP insulated conductors, ambient temperature of 40 ºC 2 ft./sec. wind in sun.
