Our 2 Core Armoured Copper Cable is a robust and reliable solution for low voltage power distribution. Manufactured to BS 5467 standards, this cable features a durable Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, a protective Steel Wire Armour (SWA), and a resilient PVC oversweath, making it suitable for demanding indoor and outdoor applications.
With a rated voltage of 0.6/1kV, this cable is designed for secure electricity supply in various installation systems.
Applications
This 2 Core SWA Armoured Cable is versatile and highly suitable for electricity supply in low voltage installation systems across a wide range of environments. Its robust construction provides excellent protection, making it ideal for:
- Indoors and Outdoors: Versatile for both internal building installations and external use.
- Cable Ducts & Underground: Suitable for direct burial or installation within protective conduits.
- Power & Switching Stations: Reliable for critical infrastructure.
- Local Energy Distributions: Essential for local power grids.
- Industrial Plants: Durable for demanding industrial environments where mechanical protection is crucial.
Note: The cable's robust construction, including the SWA and PVC layers, offers enhanced resistance, especially in environments where there is a risk of mechanical damage or exposure to certain chemicals (the original text mentioned lead sheath for aromatic hydrocarbons, which this cable doesn't have, so I've removed that specific mention but kept the general durability benefit).
Construction Details
The cable's layered construction ensures high performance and longevity:
- Conductor: Plain circular, compacted, or shaped stranded copper conductor conforming to IEC 60228 Class 2. This provides excellent conductivity and flexibility.
- Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), designed for a 90°C rated temperature, offering superior electrical properties and high temperature resistance.
- Bedding: An inner layer of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), applied over the insulated cores, provides a bedding for the armour.
- Armour: Galvanized Steel Wire Armour (SWA) encircles the bedding, providing robust protection against mechanical stress and impact.
- Sheath: An outer layer of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), which provides additional protection against abrasion, moisture, and environmental factors.
