SIP-5ng (AsXSn) is a self-supporting insulated wire featuring a round aluminum conductor and flame-retardant, UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation. It is designed for 0.6/1kV overhead power distribution lines, especially in dense urban environments. This wire does not include a load-bearing messenger, making it suitable where the conductor bundle itself carries the mechanical load.
The SIP-5ng wire provides enhanced safety and installation flexibility compared to traditional bare conductors, with significantly reduced risk of short circuits, lower transmission losses, and compatibility with space-constrained layouts.
Key Applications
-
Overhead low-voltage distribution networks (0.6/1kV, 50Hz)
-
Urban and residential power transmission
-
Facade-mounted installations
-
Areas requiring flame-retardant and sunlight-resistant cables
-
Modern replacements for bare aluminum conductors in existing lines
Advantages Over Bare Conductors
-
No short circuits between phases due to solid insulation
-
Reduced mechanical failures from wire crossing or external contact
-
Smaller support structures can be used (e.g., wooden poles or compact concrete masts)
-
Closer installation near buildings thanks to insulated core
-
Lower energy losses due to reduced inductive reactance
-
Supports facade or wall-mounted layouts for urban installation
-
Fire-resistant XLPE insulation ensures higher safety
