Aluminum alloy power cables are a new type of power cable material invented and created using AA8000 series aluminum alloy materials as conductors, combined with advanced technologies such as special roller-forming stranded wire manufacturing processes and annealing treatments. These alloy power cables make up for the deficiencies of previous pure aluminum cables. Although they do not enhance the electrical conductivity of the cables, they significantly improve bending performance, creep resistance, and corrosion resistance, ensuring stable performance of the cables during prolonged overload and overheating conditions. By adopting AA-8030 series aluminum alloy conductors, the electrical conductivity and high-temperature resistance of aluminum alloy cables can be greatly enhanced, while simultaneously addressing issues such as electrochemical corrosion and creep in pure aluminum conductors. The electrical conductivity of aluminum alloy is 61.8% of the International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS)—the most commonly used benchmark material, copper, and its current-carrying capacity is 79% of that of copper, outperforming pure aluminum standards. However, in terms of volume, the actual weight of aluminum alloy is approximately one-third that of copper. Therefore, for the same current-carrying capacity, the weight of aluminum alloy cables is approximately half that of copper cables. Replacing copper cables with aluminum alloy cables can reduce cable weight, lower installation costs, minimize wear and tear on equipment and cables, and make installation work easier.
